Impression
An idea, feeling, or opinion about something or someone, especially one formed without conscious thought or on the basis of little evidence.
When you do something, people will have an opinion on that matter. You can choose whether to give a good impression to people based on what you're doing. Do good, be good and feel good. Ask yourself, what will you get if you impress a human? Will it ever suffice? After all, we are all human.
Perception.
It is how people interpret something. A belief. A judgement. An estimation.
People will judge you based on what you do. It will translate to how they perceive you. No matter how hard you try to give a good impression to people, if they have a negative perception towards you, no matter how good your value is, how great you are as a person, they will find it negative. It's planted in their mind. You cannot force them to think positively of you. Just let it go. Forget it. Live your life.
Assumption.
A thing that is accepted as true or as certain to happen, without proof.
The first thing I learn in Communication studies is to never assume. It will bring you to a disaster. If you are unsure of a matter, by all means please ask. Do not create a conclusion based on what you think is right. There's nothing wrong in asking a question, even though it might portray you as a silly person, it's fine. I've learned that it's better to appear stupid for once rather than for the rest of your life. Assumption kills.
Today, I learned how these three elements affect life as a whole. How disastrous an assumption can be, how perception shaped people and how important impression is. Experience is indeed the best teacher.
Tough life, tough love. I will survive.
