Wishful Dreams

You are the fork to my spoon,
My daun pisang to my nasi lemak,
My vanilla ice cream to my chocolate lava cake.

Without it, I can still live.
Without it, I can still breathe.
Without it, I can still survive.

It seems like enough but tough.
It feels right but incomplete.
It tastes good but flat.

When you just want flowers but I gave you roses.
When you just want to listen to music but I sing for you.
When you just want a house but I gave you a home.

Why are you playing with fire?
Is it because you know I’m a water?

I am tormented by wishful dreams.
Bleed with sorrow.
Bruised in anguish.

Disorient.
Hesitant.

I want to see the light again.
I want to touch the rainbow.

Not just black or white but grey.
